7 Gotham FC players selected for USWNT

As if you needed any more proof that the Goths are now a Superteam.

Earlier today, the US Women’s National Team named seven Gotham FC players to the squad that will compete in the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup. That impressive number of call-ups represents almost one-third of 23 players named to the USWNT.

The Gotham players named to the USWNT are defender Tierna Davidson, forward Crystal Dunn, midfielder Rose Lavelle, wingback Jenna Nighswonger, forward Midge Purce, midfielder Emily Sonnett, and forward Lynn Williams.

Jenna Nighswonger, Midge Purce, and Lynn Williams were in the Gotham Starting XI that defeated the OL Reign on November 11 2023 to win the 2023 NWSL Championship

Tierna Davidson, Crystal Dunn, Rose Lavelle, and Emily Sonnett joined the team in the offseason in what is easily the strongest recruitment class in the history of the club. 

The 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup will be held between February 17 and March 10. All games will be played at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA. 

The USWNT are in Group A with Argentina and Mexico. They will open tournament play when face the against the winner of the Guyana vs Dominican Republic Preliminary on Tuesday, February 20. The USWNT then will face Argentina on Friday, February 23, and Mexico on Monday, February 26. 

All of the USWNT’s games will kick-off at 10:15 pm ET. All tournament matches will be broadcast on Paramount+.

Gotham will play their first competitive match on Friday, March 15, when they host San Diego Wave FC in the 2024 NWSL Challenge Cup at Red Bull Arena.
