Andres Jasson has left New York City FC, the club just announced.

The Homegrown player originally from Connecticut is leaving NYCFC for Aalborg BK in Denmark.

There's no mention of a transfer fee paid by the Danish club to acquire Jasson, who was in the final year of his contract in 2024, according to the club roster update NYCFC released in early May.

Jasson signed with New York City in 2020 as the team’s fifth Homegrown player after years spent with the NYCFC Academy.

He is one of seven Homegrowns to actually break through and make his MLS debut with New York City, but becomes the latest Homegrown to leave the club, following in the footsteps of players such as Joe Scally and Nico Benalcazar (and James Sands, though he left and came back).

In his New York City career, the 22-year-old forward made 69 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals. The bulk of Jasson’s appearances and goals scored came last season, when he started 12 matches and scored three times across 24 total appearances.

Minutes have dried up in 2024 for Jasson, squeezed out of Nick Cushing's plans by a plethora of other young wingers that recently joined the team. He’s appeared in just three matches in 2024, starting only in the home-opener loss vs. Portland Timbers.

Jasson now heads to an Aalborg side that just earned promotion back to the top-flight Danish Superliga for the 2024-2025 season, reversing a relegation the club suffered two seasons ago, its first season out of the Danish top division since 1986-1987.

Aalborg’s announcement of Jasson’s signing says he’ll wear the No 17 shirt for his new team. His new sporting director is quoted praising the attacker as “extremely skilled in the offensive pressing game that we want to practice,” while saying Jasson is “both very versatile, fast and persistent.”
