New York City FC and adidas officially released their 2024 away kit at 10 am ET this morning. A black shirt with orange and sky-blue details, the 24/7 Kit replaces the bright orange Volt Kit introduced in 2022.
The kit is already available at the MLS store. The Authentic, which includes a star above the crest and sleeve sponsors, costs $159.99. The Replica, which doesn't have a star or sleeve sponsors, costs $99.99 for adult sizes, and $79.99 for youth sizes.
The black color scheme recalls the inaugural NYCFC away kit from 2015. Used for just one year, that shirt is one of the most popular designs ever produced by the club and adidas.
The first NYCFC kit with no badge
But the 24/7 Kit is the first in club history to use the interlocking NYCFC letters in place of the badge. The letters are in blue and are topped with a silver star.
The blue and orange combo is used throughout the kit. The stripes, piping, and sponsor are blue on the left, and orange on the right. Shirt sponsor Etihad Airways gets an orange "Etihad" and a blue "Airways."
Where will this design reside in the pantheon of New York City kits?
The black color scheme gives it the makings of an instant classic. But the blue and orange details make it a little fussy: The flashes of color catch the eye.
The official 24/7 Kit confirms earlier leaks posted on Footyheadlines.com and EA Sports FC 24 last month.
Volt Kit fire sale
One byproduct of the introduction of a new shirt? It instantly tanks the retail value of the old model.
Those Volt Kits that cost full freight not long ago are now being sold at a steep discount: Men's shirts are $58.99 (reduced from $89.99), while women's shirts are a bargain at $23.99 (reduced from $79.99).
