New York City FC announced that the total capacity for the Eastern Conference Semifinal matches against New York Red Bulls on Saturday, November 23, is now 25,000. That's an increase of 2,500 from the originally announced capacity of 22,500.

Additional sections on the field level behind home plate, and in the 300 level behind the supporter's section in the outfield, are now open and seats are available to the public. You can purchase tickets here.

Note that those newly available seats in the 300 level above the NYCFC supporters, from sections 301-305, come with obstructed views – as many New York City fans learned the hard way when the supporters' section was located there during the 2019 Eastern Conference Semifinal match against Toronto FC.

Hosts John Baney and Mark Radigan react (strongly) to the news that capacity will be limited at Citi Field for the first-ever playoff Hudson River Derby.
New York City to host Red Bulls in Eastern Conference Semifinal at Citi Field
Attendance will be capped at 22,500 as stadium is being prepared to close for the winter; tickets are on sale now.

Despite the additional seating, attendance will be much lower than the 41,922 that Citi Field can handle. An announced crowd of 30,731 were in the stands at Citi Field on May 18, when New York City defeated Red Bulls 2-1, setting a new NYCFC record at the venue. Presumably, even more fans would have attended this coming Saturday's game, which will be the first-ever MLS Cup Playoff edition of the Hudson River Derby, if more of Citi Field was opened.

However, attendance is being capped because Citi Field is in the process of being shut down for the winter as a part of the annual closure and maintenance of the stadium.
