Forward Cece Kizer and Gotham FC agreed to a mutual contract termination, as announced by Gotham FC in a statement released on Thursday. The statement comes one day before Gotham FC is set to play the first of three games on the road.

“We are thankful for Cece’s contributions and wish her all the best in the next step of her career,” said Yael Averbuch West, Gotham FC's general manager and head of soccer operations.

Kizer signed a multi-year contract with Gotham on September 7, 2024. She played a total of 99 minutes for the team over eight appearances during the NWSL regular season, and made one goal contribution.

The 27-year-old Kizer committed to the soccer program at Ole Miss in 2015, playing for the program until 2018. She scored the most goals in Ole Miss history with 48 and was named to the All-SEC first-team on three separate occasions. Amongst her many other college accolades, she was the SEC regular season goal leader in 2017 and 2018 with 16 and 13 goals, respectively.

Kizer was initially picked by the Houston Dash as the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft, becoming the fourth player in Ole Miss history to be drafted professionally in the NWSL.

After she was selected in the 2020 NWSL Expansion Draft, Kizer joined Racing Louisville, where she scored the team's first goal during the first game of the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup against the Orlando Pride. She finished Louisville's debut season with seven goals and three assists. Kizer also scored Louisville's first goal of the 2022 season in the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup in what ended up being a tie against the Kansas City Current.

Kizer was traded twice more, once to the Current in 2022, then back to the Dash in 2024, before signing with Gotham FC in 2024. She scored her first goal for Gotham on October 2 in the Concacaf W Champions Cup during the 13-0 victory over the Fraziers Whip.

As of now, Kizer has not made a statement about her departure nor has she stated where she plans to play.
