New York City FC returned to the MLS Cup Playoffs with a Round One loss to FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium. The home team looked vulnerable going into this game, but Cincinnati were the more composed and creative team on the field, taking 21 shots to NYCFC's three. Now it's time for you to rate the players.

The first half ended scoreless after New York City did just enough to frustrate the hosts. But Cincinnati found their goal in the 51st minute when a deflection fell to the feet of an open Luciano Acosta positioned on the left flank of the goal. Acosta led Major League Soccer with 19 assists this season, and he added his first of the playoffs when he crossed the ball to a waiting Yamil Assad.

The game ended in chaos, with New York City flinging everything at the goal — and Tayvon Gray earning a straight red card after challenging Acosta in the 90+8' minute.

• Good rule of thumb: Never leave Lucinao Acosta open

• Alonso Martínez was completely silenced by Cincinnati's back three

• At least Matt Freese returned to form: He made six saves, faced a 2.64 xGA

The ratings form will remain open until 11:59 pm on Tuesday, October 29. Results will be published on the morning of Monday, October 30.
