It’s Matchday 11, and New York City FC are in North Carolina to face Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium.

NYCFC are unbeatable at home, but deeply flawed on the road. The club have yet to win an away game this year, and have been held scoreless on three occasions — that includes last week’s feeble loss to Toronto. New York City have taken just two points on the road out of a possible 15. Even then, NYCFC are in 5th place in the Eastern Conference, with 15 points after 10 games.

Charlotte are still reeling from losing to DC United 3-0 last Saturday. The team are undefeated in their last three home games, but sit way down in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, with just 9 points after 10 games.

The head-to-head between the two clubs is a dumpster fire as far as NYCFC are concerned. Charlotte swept New York City last year despite being an expansion team, and the losses served as two of the lowest points in NYCFC’s late-summer slump.

New York City will be looking to even the record, starting with this game.

NYCFC Injury Report: Backup center-back Tony Alfaro is out with a lower-body injury. Winger Matías Pellegrini is questionable but could still make the squad.

Where will NYCFC find goals? The attack that looked so lethal two weeks ago against FC Dallas was nowhere to be seen in last Saturday’s insipid loss to Toronto FC. NYCFC have 12 goals in 10 games, which puts them on pace for just 41 goals this season. Sad face emoji.

Will Talles Magno step up his game? The highly-regarded prospect was impressive when playing a supporting role to Taty Castellanos at the start of last season. But he’s a leading man now, and he needs to learn how control a match like the world-class player he’s supposed to be.

NYCFC right back Mitja Ilenič is one yellow card away from a suspension. The 18-year-old has been one of the bright points of this season so far, and would be missed if he had to sit out the Hudson River Derby matchup next week against New Jersey Red Bulls.

Charlotte Injury Report: Forward Andre Shinyashiki won’t be available after the 25-year-old was linked to a sexual assault police report. Charlotte head coach Christian Lattanzio said the incident has been reported to MLS.

Attacking midfielder Kamil Józwiak is off to a strong start this season. The 25-year-old has two goals and three assists in eight games.
