At long last, the NWSL announced the 2023 league schedule. It’s just a little over six weeks before the opening game on March 26, but now that Gotham FC fans can sort out their calendar for the rest of the year, and cancel any plans they might have made for April 1, when Gotham hosts OLS Reign at Red Bull Arena for the home opener.
The NWSL also announced the 2023 Challenge Cup schedule, which will be held during the season. The 2022 Challenge Cup took place before the start of the regular season, acting as something of an appetizer to the main course of NWSL league games.
Gotham will open the 2023 season in Los Angeles with a game against Angel City FC at the newly-renamed BMO Stadium on March 26, then return to the East Coast for their home opener on April 1.
The schedule is somewhat imbalanced, with only four home games during the first half of the season, and seven home games during the second half. Gotham will host three home games in a row in a sequence of sweltering Sundays on June 25, July 2, and July 9.
Gotham’s final game of the 2023 season will be at home on Sunday, October 15, when they host the Kansas City Current at Red Bull Arena.
