Nicolás Acevedo enjoyed a strong season on inter-City Football Group loan with Esporte Clube Bahia in Brazil, making 31 Série A appearances for a club that finished one point above the relegation line in 16th place.
Acevedo’s loan from New York City FC to Bahia expires on December 31, and reports are now circulating that the defensive midfielder is a target of multiple clubs, including Bahia.
Those reports all come with a caveat though, as Acevedo sadly just tore his ACL in Bahia’s final match of their season on December 6.
Acevedo does not appear headed back to NYCFC even despite suffering the ACL injury towards the end of his Bahia loan. He’s been linked with a return to Bahia, but also with moves to Brazilian champions Palmeiras, as well as Liga MX clubs Tigres and Club América.
Given the knee injury and Bahia’s reported interest in retaining him, it’s hard to see Acevedo leaving the CFG family this winter. He’s still on a contract with parent club NYCFC that runs through December 2025, so a permanent transfer or another loan would need to be arranged.
Where Acevedo ends up, and when he’s physically able to return to the pitch, are both unknowns as his loan with Bahia draws to a close.
