NYCFC Falls to Tigres 1-0 in CCL Quarterfinal First Leg

City fail to convert chances as Tigres steal a late goal at RBA

FT 1-0: Horrific end to a generally positive night. City couldn’t convert any chances they had and it bit them in the ass. They also haven’t scored in 3 games, which is concerning. On to Dallas this weekend, then Monterey in a week.

90’ Tigres steal one late. Sean John makes the save but Vargas pounce on the rebound. Their are many things I want to say right now that I can’t.

Attendance at RBA has been announced as 10,212 #NYCFC

Isn’t that more than the Red Bulls drew in their CCL home games? lol

86’ Big save and miss. Sean John makes a big save off a deflected shot, then Gignac misses a great chance for Tigres right after.

85’ Yellow card for Medina. Nuff said

82’ It’s getting spicy. Johnson and Vargas get physical. I’m picking Sean John in that fight.

77’ Good chance for City. Mitrita dances his way into the box and puts in a dangerous ball, but it’s cleared away by Tigres.

74’ Ronny makes his last change. Maxi is on for Parks. City wants a goal but it has been all Tigres recently.

72’ City makes their 2nd change. Medina comes on for ITS. He looked really good in this game but I guess Medina brings something better (maybe?)

69’ (nice) Tigres have the best chance of the half. Tigres has a look on goal from the top of the box, which is blocked by Chanot and out for a corner.

65’ NYCFC make their first sub. Taty comes on for Heber. He hasn’t really offered much tonight. Let’s see if what Taty can do.

55’ Sloppy play from both sides. Been an uneventful first 10 minutes in the 2nd half.

46’ Tigres make a change. Luis Quiñones on for Jordan Sierra

46’ 2nd half underway. COME ON CITY!!!!

HT 0-0: City is looking the better team right now. They’ve had multiple good looks on goal and looked more dangerous then Tigres. The thing is, they didn’t score. All Gignac and Vargas need is one chance. Still all to play for in Harrison.

42’ BLOOD PRESSURE RISING. Another good save by Guzman as he pushes Heber’s shot into the side net. This team is trading blows with freakin’ Tigres and I’m loving it.

35’ Should’ve been 1-0 for Tigres. Pizarro had a great chance with his head and it went wide. Johnson wouldn’t have saved that if it was on target.

26’ AHHHHH. Heber has a good look at goal but it’s right at Guzman, who makes the save. TAKE YOUR CHANCES!!

21’ ITS!!! Why hasn’t he been playing? ITS puts a good shot on goal and Guzman makes the save at his near post. This game is mostly City right now. Tigres do not look good in possession.

17’ DAMN ITTT. Ring now has a chance that goes wide off the volley. City need to convert these chances they’re getting.

14’ Mitrita with the good chance. A good ball find Mitrita, who cuts inside and fires the shot wide. The boys are looking good to start.

12’ ITS should’ve made it 1-0. ITS looked offside but it wasn’t called. He was stopped 1-on-1 after a good save from Guzman.

4’ Callens skies it over. Good chance for City off the free kick but Callens follow up goes over the bar.

1’ Tigres nearly score. Deflects wide. Yikes!

Game on! Teams out, ball down, let’s do that soccer. We are underway from Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.

Lineups are out! Some rotation from Ronny for this game. Tajouri-Shradi gets the call over Medina (which makes a lot of sense). Parks plays over Moralez, probably meaning City are going to play a little more direct in this one. Tigres have Gignac and Vargas starting and I’m scared.
