New York City FC will get a new home jersey for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, and we may now have our first look at the latest design.
FootyHeadlines, home to many leaks of unreleased jerseys, today revealed the first leaked images of the new NYCFC kit, which you can see here and in the below photo, which looks to have been taken out in the wild.
The design is supposed to be "inspired by the soaring skyscrapers of New York City," an inspiration which FootyHeadlines' leak experts shared in a post about the upcoming new New York City jersey in September.
It's once again heavy on the light blue color synonymous with not just NYCFC but more with their elder relatives, Manchester City FC. There's lighter and darker shading throughout to give the shirt something of an abstract look, with bands of white coming up along the sides.
At first blush, it's not what you would call the most unique-looking design for a soccer kit. It doesn't necessarily read "skyscrapers!" upon first viewing, but there will likely be some complicated story that makes the connection once the jersey is formally revealed.
It mainly resembles a plain sky-blue shirt with some color variations – but, to be fair, these are low-quality leaked images of the kit, not a freshly-pressed authentic one you've spent hundreds of dollars to buy and are slipping on for the first time.
The leaks always make it hard to appreciate all the finer details, and how the thing actually will look on a human – for that, we'll likely have to wait for the team to unveil and name the new kit, which will happen sometime in February. Goodbye Interboro Kit from 2023 and 2024, hello...Skyscraper Kit? Maybe the branding geniuses on the NYCFC payroll will come up with something snappier.
You'll notice that the new badge revealed by NYCFC during the 2024 season does not appear on the new 2025 home kit. That is apparently down to production time – work on the new 2025 home jersey was already underway once the club finalized its new crest in the middle of the 2024 season.
The wait will extend to 2026 and the team's new away jersey to see the streamlined new badge on a jersey. This new blue-and-white creation will be worn during the 2025 and 2026 seasons, as MLS teams keep their kits in use for two complete seasons once they're released. The black 24/7 Kit that debuted last season sticks around once more in 2025, but will be replaced for the 2026 season.
After that, NYCFC will move into their new Etihad Park home in 2027 with a brand-new home jersey, though not this one just revealed for the first time today. This new skyscraper-influenced one for 2025 is still pending its formal roll-out and reveal, but for now, there's at least this first glimpse to start the "love it or hate it" debate rolling.
