New York City vs LAFC player ratings

A lack of goals or even good scoring chances for New York City FC combined with the bitter late goal conceded made for some unhappy ratings.

New York City FC player ratings are determined by Hudson River Blue readers: Here are your NYCFC player ratings for the 1-0 defeat at the hands of LAFC on Matchday 2 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

A second straight away day to open the 2025 Major League Soccer season for New York City FC and a second straight match with points dropped thanks to a late goal conceded.

What looked headed toward a hard-fought scoreless draw became a frustrating defeat for NYCFC with LAFC claiming all three points thanks to Ryan Hollingshead's goal in the 86th minute. The player ratings are not pretty coming out of this late-night loss on the West Coast, even if it's only the second game of a marathon-long season.

The Starting XI averaged a 5.6 rating with the lowest score down at 3.8 and the highest-rated New York City player at 7.2. A lack of goals or even good scoring chances combined with the bitter late concession made for some unhappy ratings, but there was at least one positive performance in the New York City midfield that drew praise and Player of the Match votes.
