New York City FC suffered their worst loss of the season, falling 3-0 to FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium in Ohio. NYCFC looked flat and out of ideas; Cincinnati looked sharp despite playing 120 minutes against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami on Wednesday: Here are your NYCFC vs Cincinnati highlights.
Instant Reaction: NYCFC’s season ended tonight
Cincinnati took the lead in the sixth minute after Aaron Boupendza pounced on a rebound in front of the goal. The summer signing now has two goals in just three MLS appearances, and he troubled the NYCFC backline all night.
NYCFC spent the rest of the night chasing a game they had no chance of catching. The disorganized NYCFC defense was sliced apart time and again by Cincinnati playmaker Luciano Acosta, who finished the night with two assists.
At the other end of the field, the New York City attack was nowhere to be seen. Mounsef Bakrar led a front line of Julián Fernández and Maxi Moralez, but the three looked disjointed. Even the usually composed Moralez made a key turnover in midfield that led to a Cincinnati goal.
