A disciplined Seattle Sounders drew Club León in Mexico 1-1 in the CONCACAF Champions League, winning 4-1 on aggregate and advancing to an all-MLS matchup in the Semifinals against New York City FC

The first leg will be played the week of April 5 in Seattle, and the second leg will be played the week of April 12 in New York. The kickoff times will be announced later.

UPDATE: NYCFC will host Seattle at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, March 13 at 9 pm ET. Read the full details here.

Seattle successfully bunkered down in front of a full stadium in Léon, ceding possession but defending valiantly to earn the 1-1 draw. Club Léon had 26 shots, with eight on target, but managed to score only a single goal in stoppage time. After going up 3-0 in the first leg, Seattle made a plan and stuck to it: Park the bus, try to sneak in an away goal.

The Sounders succeeded where the New England Revolution failed. Last night, the Revs took a 3-0 lead over Pumas UNAM to the second leg in Mexico City, then promptly shipped three goals. The tie ended in a draw, and Pumas won the ensuing penalty shootout.

CF Montréal and Cruz Azul also played last night in Montréal, with Cruz Azul advancing on 2-1 aggregate.

On Tuesday, NYCFC tried to defend their 3-1 first-leg lead over Comunicaciones FC like Seattle, and almost imploded like New England. After going up 1-0 in Guatemala City, NYCFC lost the game 2-4 but advanced to the Semifinals on away goals

NYCFC and Seattle last played each other on July 3, 2019, at Yankee Soccer Stadium. NYFC won that match 3-0, with goals from Maxi MoralezJesús Medina, and Ebenezer Ofori.
