When New York City FC’s new home kit leaked recently, I was an ardent supporter of it. I know some of you aren’t, but that’s OK. We all like different things. But I personally am a fan of it.
This afternoon, NYCFC officially released what has been dubbed the “Bronx Blue” kit. And my opinion remains the same: it’s sharp.
The kit reveal centered around City’s young stars and NY residents James Sands and Tayvon Gray. Also seen wearing the kit is a Frontline Healthcare Worker named Jamie, and a City in the Community (CITC) Coach named Oumou.
This is an excerpt from the official press release sent from the club to Hudson River Blue:
The kit design features the Club’s iconic blue colorway with a tonal striped pattern inspired by the different uniforms of New York City’s municipal workers. The white trim details give a nostalgic nod to NYCFC’s very first jersey design from 2015, but takes on a modern, contemporary design. An adaptation of the New York City flag is emblazoned above the player nameplate serving as a proud declaration that the Club represents a community of strong and resilient New Yorkers.
