New York City FC looked composed but only managed to draw Portland Timbers 1-1 at Providence Park: Here are your Portland vs NYCFC highlights.
NYCFC had Maxime Chanot in defense for the first time since drawing New England Revolution 1-1 on June 3, and the back line felt more stable than it has in some time. Goalkeeper Matt Freese made just his second MLS league start of the year, but his seven saves weren’t enough to earn the win.

Head coach Nick Cushing made some astute substations. He brought on an underperforming Matías Pellegrini for leading goal-scorer Gabriel Pereira, and Matí promptly delivered a free kick that Keaton Parks headed home for the equalizer.
On any other day a come-from-behind draw in front of the hostile crowd at Providence Park would be cause for celebration, but this hard-luck NYCFC team are now on an 11-game winless streak. It makes it hard to celebrate a game that featured strong performances by Chanot, Freese, and Homegrown player Justin Haak.
