As you already know, we recently flipped the calendars to June and that means it’s officially Pride Month. It’s a time of celebration, inclusion, and…Pride for millions of people around the world.

New York City FC first celebrated Pride in 2017, and has a long history of supporting the LGBTQ+ community. A handful of MLS teams held Pride Nights in 2018, and in 2019 the league formalized support in the most soccer-y way possible: They rolled out a line of merch. The special-edition warm-up kit was the first to be inspired by the Pride Flag, and include colors that represent the diverse values of the LGBTQ+ community. Since then adidas and MLS have introduced two more designs, and each one is distinctive.

To celebrate Pride Month, we thought we’d talk a bit about each jersey and then open it up to a vote to find out which MLS Pride Kit is your favorite.

1. 2019/2020 Pride Jersey

The first pride shirt brought out by MLS was a stunner, featuring waves of polka dots that roll throughout the top. The kit pops with color without being too harsh on the eye, and served as a handsome introduction to a very important message of support.

2. 2021 “Love Unites” Training Gear

The following year, MLS returned with their support for Pride Month with their “Love Unites”collection. This time, they swapped their polka dots for a tie-dye design that’s much more colorful. The black collar, adidas logo, and blacked-out team crest shifted the focus of the shirt even further towards the initiative at hand. And, the phrase “Love Unites” is proudly stamped on the back of the neck in a retro, 70’s style font that perfectly suits the tie-dye era vibe.

3. 2022 Pride Jersey

This year, MLS came back to celebrate their “Soccer for All” initiative with the most geometric pattern to date, opting for a loud checkered pattern that celebrates Pride with all the more enthusiasm. Once again, the team’s logos are displayed in black and white, leaving all the color on the shirt to represent the LGBTQ+ community.
