New York City Football Club announced yesterday that they signed 15-year-old midfielder Jonathan “Jonny” Shore to a Homegrown Contract through 2027 with an option for 2028.
Shore is the eleventh Homegrown to sign with New York City since the NYCFC Academy was established in 2015.
Shore joined the NYCFC Academy in 2017 he was a ten-year-old, and moved up through the ranks over the years. He featured for NYCFC II last season, and joined the First Team for preseason training earlier this year. Shore has also been named to the US U15 and U16 National Teams.
Raised in New York City, Shore played with Manhattan Kickers FC starting in 2011, when he was just a four-year-old, before joining the NYCFC Academy. Manhattan Kickers is a travel team based in Manhattan that plays on school fields and in public parks.
In a statement released by NYCFC, Sporting Director David Lee said “We are delighted that Jonathan has signed his first professional contract and we are excited that he has committed to continue his football development with the Club over the coming years. Jonathan is an intelligent, creative and dynamic central midfield player who has performed at a high level consistently throughout his time in our Academy and has impressed in his opportunities to train and play with the First Team.
